State Funding & School Meals Update
Dear ECS families,
As you may have seen in the news, the State of Michigan has reached its October 1 budget deadline with only a temporary one-week measure in place, leaving many questions unanswered. I want to assure you that, regardless of what happens in Lansing, Eastpointe Community Schools will continue to provide the services and support our students need and deserve. Thanks to years of careful financial management, our district has a strong reserve fund that will allow us to keep school operations running without interruption.
One of our top priorities is making sure students are well-nourished and ready to learn. We remain fully committed to providing free breakfast and lunch to every ECS student, every day. We know how important this is to our families, and you can continue to count on balanced, healthy meals at no cost.
Even in the face of budget uncertainty at the state and national levels, Eastpointe Community Schools will remain a steady and reliable presence for your family. Our schools will remain open and fully staffed. Free meals will be served. Buses will run. And most importantly, our teachers and school staff will continue to show up for our students and community, just as we always have.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. Thank you for continuing to trust us with your child’s education and well-being.
