Incident at Eastpointe High School
At approximately 10:00 am today, there was an incident involving two students in a classroom at the high school.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Another student has been taken into custody by the Eastpointe Police Department. The high school was locked down to ensure the safety of all students.
The investigation is ongoing by Eastpointe Police and the high school administration. All other students and staff in the building are safe and school will be dismissed at its regular time.

The Eastpointe Community Schools Board of Education unanimously took action Friday, December 12, 2025 to formally terminate the employment of Martin Waskowski.
Eastpointe Community Schools was notified on Friday, December 5, 2025, by the Michigan State Police and the Department of Homeland Security that a Pleasantview teacher had been arrested out of state on December 3, 2025, and charged with possession and transportation of child exploitation materials. Prior to this formal notification, the District had no knowledge of, nor had it received any allegations related to, this individual.
All Eastpointe Community Schools services and operations, including free breakfast and lunch, will continue despite ongoing budget uncertainty in Lansing.
By law, Michigan school districts are now required to send information home to parents and caregivers annually on the safe storage of firearms. This is in accordance with the “Safe Storage Laws,” MCL 28.429, MCL 380.1313a, and MCL 380.1313b.
